Karanasa regeli (Alpheraky, 1881) rueckbeili Avinov et Sweander, 1925 - the only representative of a complex Central Asian genus Karanasa (Satyridae) in the Dzhungarian Alatau Mountain Chain (the NE extreme of the Tien Shan).
A representative of a very complicated genus full of very similar species inhabiting the mountains of Central Asia. The Dzhungarian Alatau mountain chain, being the NE extreme of the Tien Shan, is at the same time the NE extreme of the genus range, where the only taxon K. regeli rueckbeili ranges. The wing underside in Karanasa is very nice but very cryptic on stones, while the upperside is quite spectacular.

Представитель очень сложного рода со множеством сходных видов, населяющих горы Средней Азии. Джунгарский Алатау, как северная часть Тянь-Шаня, также явлется северной оконечностью ареала рода, так что ее населяет единственный таксон K. regeli rueckbeili. Нижняя сторона крыльев у Karanasa очень красива, но очень криптична на фоне камней, тогда как верхняя сторона бросается в глаза.
