Range: SE Europe, Crimea, Caucasus, Transcaucasia, Iran, S Ural, Kazakhstan, the southern West Siberia, including the southern Altai Mts.

ssp.: persephone [Huebner, 1805]; range: except for Transcaucasia and the Kopet-Dagh Mts.

A female; wings closed.
