Gentiana tenella Rottb. Rottb.(= Comostoma tenellum (Rottb.) Toyokuni) growing on a stone-like cusion of a highland cryohpyte higher plant Thylacospermum caespitosum (Camb.) Schischk. (= Peryandra caespitosa Camb.; = Lourensia caespitosa Camb.) (Caryophyllaceae), which provides growing conditions for many higher plants on barren rocks at very high altitudes. An ancient moraine in the Tyshkan River headwaters, 3400 m above sea level, 45 km NEN of Zharkent, 20 km NEN of village Sarybel', the mountain massif Tyshkantau within the Southern Dzhungarian Alatau mountain chain - a NE extreme of the Tien Shan Mts., Zharkent District, Taldy-Kurgan Region, SE Kazakhstan. 27th July 1994.
