The Onon River is one of the major Transbaikalian rivers forming the great Amur River. It flows in the Dahurian Steppes - the NE extreme of the Euroasian steppes - on the territory of Mongolia and, then, of Russia. In its lower reaches it forms numerous arms, one of which, Staryi Onon [Russ. "Old Onon"] is photographed here at the village Nizhnii Tsasuchei, SE Chita region. 18th June 1995. O. Kosterin
